Barr Nandom Kura, an ardent APC Youth Supporter and a political analyst with keen insight into the undercurrents of Plateau politics, has welcomed the Plateau State’s All Progressives Congress, APC reconciliation meeting held at Nasarawa Government House, Lafia last week describing it as the best thing that has happened to the party, since its shocking defeat in the state in the 2023 general elections, warning that, with the reconciliation, it was not yet uhuru for the PDP leadership, including Gov. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who he presumed are ill at ease, at the moment
It would be recalled that APC was roundly defeated and dislodged from State Assembly to National Assembly and seat of power, Little Rayfield by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in a shocking defeat.
Speaking to www.pointblank.com.ng, Barr regretted the party’s inability to reconcile before the election which led to the exodus of prominent figures like Dr Patrick Dakum and anti party activities carried by some stakeholders who stayed in the party and worked for the opposition.
Kura wept that “The 43 thousand votes winning margin between Mutfwang and Nentawe would have been subsumed by the over 60k votes polled by Dr Dakum, who led a splinter group from the APC in the 2023 elections.
He added that “The Labour Party votes in the gubernatorial election were a faction of APC votes who were disenchanted with the way the party was run in the build up to the 2023 elections.
“The 18 APC aspirants led by Chief Amos Gizo worked against the APC in 2023.
“If the reconciliatory meeting was genuine and all the warring factions agree to be loyal to APC, I can tell you that it will have a great impact in future elections in the state.
He warned that the religious sentiment whipped against the APC in 2023 to garner voters was outdated. “Mind you, the religious card played in 2023 that helped in demarketing the APC in Plateau State is no longer viable. What the APC needs in Plateau State to be back on track is a genuine reconciliation among its stakeholders.
He concluded that if the APC’s Lafia reconciliation was genuine, Gov Mutfwang and PDP field day on the political landscape of Plateau State might soon come to an end. “So, if what transpired in Nasarawa state could achieve its purpose, then I can bet you that it is not yet Uhuru for the ruling PDP in Plateau State. That would be further strengthened if members of the aggrieved group are given appointments by the ruling APC at the federal level”.

In the same vein, Comrade CC Dashe, an ally of the former minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barr Solomon Selcap Dalung has advised Gov. Mutfwang not to take the APC reconciliation for granted and tighten up his belts to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“To me, I don’t want to see it as a charade. Governor Mutfwang should tighten up his belt because I am yet to see his hand writing on the board, to whom much is given, much is expected.
“This is politics and you don’t underrate people coming together for a common goal. As it stands now in the Plateau PDP, it’s only the Governorship position that we have and at the national Assembly, you can only think of the ADP Senator and the Jos North/Bassa Constituency who are having a romance with the PDP because they were instrumental in their coming but you can’t be sure of that.
He warned that “By 2027, should Mutfwang emerge again and support a PDP Presidential Candidate, he might loss at the Supreme Court if Tinubu returns as President.
