The logo of the ruling party on the Plateau, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP is conspicuously missing on the ballot papers meant for the conduct of saturday, 3rd february rerun elections into Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency and Plateau North Senatorial elections. Rerun elections were ordered into the aforementioned National Assembly seats sequel to the judgment of the Court of Appeal in november that sacked Hon Musa Agah and Sen Simon Mwadkon respectively of the PDP who were victors in the 2023 general elections.
Our correspondent reported that the ballots displayed today at the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) Office at Miango Road Jos shows that PDP’s logo is not on the ballots. With time fast running out to the conduct of the election, it remains to be seen how the PDP will legally battle its exclusion on the ballot. PDP had on the 11th January 2024 approached Federal High Court, Abuja seeking an injunction to constrain INEC to include the party on the logo. Recall that, pointblank.com.ng exclusively reported that the court in a judgement by the presiding judge, Hon Justice Emeka Nwite struck out the case for lack of jurisdiction.
