The Federal Executive Council headed by the President is the highest decision making body in the country at executive level and comprises of the president, ministers and other top government functionaries at the executive arm of government.
By virtue of federal character, each state is expected to be represented by at least one minister hence each state should have a representative at the Federal Executive Council.
On the 24th of August 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore in ministers with Rt Honourable Simon Bako Lalong as minister of Labour filling the slot of Plateau State. However, on December 19th 2023 Rt Hon Lalong resigned to take up his senatorial seat after being declared winner at the Appeal Court.
This turn of events led to a vacancy at the Federal Executive Council as the slot for Plateau state has remained vacant with so many contenders from the state jostling and lobbying to fill the vacancy.
After the January 12th Supreme Court judgement that declared Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as the duely elected governor of Plateau State, the candidate of the APC Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe became the natural choice to fill in the ministerial slot from Plateau not only as a compensation for his tremendous contributions to the APC but for his sterling qualities which make him the best qualified for the job.
As it stands, two Ministries are without substantive ministers which are the ministry of labour following the resignation of Mr Lalong and that of Humanitarian affairs following the suspension of Dr Betta Edu.
Being a long term philanthropist with the right state of mind and compassion, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe is best suited for the humanitarian affairs ministry as he would bring his long term experience and compassionate persona to bear in solving humanitarian issues confronting the nation.
The President would have added an ace to his renewed hope agenda with the inclusion of Dr Nentawe to his team.
