Committed to her constitutional core mandate of safeguarding lives and property, the Plateau State Government has consolidated efforts in ensuring adequate security by collaborating with the German Government. Insecurity arising from the activities of bandits, terrorists and herders predating the administration of Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has been ravaging the state.
In a press release signed by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), to the governor, the collaborative efforts between Plateau State Government and German Government was facilitated by GIZ. GIZ is Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German development agency headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn that provides services in the field of international development cooperation.
Mr Bere said “Governor Mutfwang made the appeal during a meeting with the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State” where Gov Mutfwang “expressed the determination of his administration to resolve the ongoing security issues, and emphasized the importance of leveraging the enduring relationship between Germany and Nigeria to expand cooperation with Plateau State”
According to the DOPPA, he quoted Governor Mutfwang as saying, “We are currently focused on finding sustainable solutions to our security challenges, and we rely on partnerships with key European countries to assist us in this endeavor.”
Governor Mutfwang highlighted efforts to address poverty and enhance education in the state, in view of their significant role in exacerbating security concerns.
“Acknowledging Plateau State’s vast agricultural potential, particularly in the production of Irish potatoes, the Governor underscored the need to introduce technology to bolster agricultural activities, with a view to tapping into German expertise in this area” added Mr Bere
Mr Bere also reports that “Governor Mutfwang also expressed interest in collaborating with the German Government to improve electricity infrastructure and promote renewable energy, thereby stimulating economic growth in the state”.
Responding, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, commended Governor Mutfwang’s leadership and expressed readiness to deepen collaboration with Plateau State to foster its development.

It is worthy to note that just recently, Governor Mutfwang constituted a Security Committee under the chairmanship of AVM Napoleon Binkap Bali (Rtd) to help advice the government on the best ways to permanently end insecurity in the state.
