JUST IN: Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang Dissolves Governing Councils, Removes Heads of Some State’s Owned Tertiary Institutions and Cancels Recruitment of Workers from October 2022

The Executive Governor of Plateau State Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has approved the immediate dissolution of Governing Council of the Plateau State University, Bokkos.  Also, the Governor approves the removal from office the Heads of the following institutions:

a) Plateau State University, Bokkos

b) Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi

c) College of Education, Gindiri

d) College of Health Technology, Zawan

e) College of Health Technology, Pankshin

In a statement on behalf of the Government, dated 5th February, 2024 and signed by Arc Samuel Nanchang Jatau, FNIA, the Secretary to the Government of the State, he added that the affected Heads are to handover to the most Senior Officers in their institutions immediately. The Governor also “approved the cancellation of recruitments earlier conducted by Tertiary Institutions in October 2022 and early 2023 that have been under suspension”. The SGS however clarified that “applications for an all-inclusive recruitment for all Tertiary Institutions would be advertised”

Though no reason was advanced for the decision, www.pointblank.com.ng can report that it is not unconnected with the recommendations of the visitation panels constituted by the government last year to probe the activities of the institutions

All the affected appointees and recruitment exercises were conducted by the past administration in the State under Barr Simon Bako Lalong
