The football fraternity on the Plateau was thrown into mourning on Saturday 3rd February, 2024 when the cold hands of death snatched Barr Dan Gwaza. Barr Dan Gwaza as recent as this griday was at the Plateau State Football Association, PFA, full of life, exchanging pleasantries and cracking jokes as usual only to experience difficulty in breathing in the early hours of Saturday, 3/2/2024 and gave up the ghost while being rushed to the hospital
The ever jovial legal luminary has served in so many committees of football association spanning over 20 years.
Leading the football family on the Plateau, Hon Dr Suleiman Yahaya Kwande in solemn tribute to the departed legal luminary, described the deceased as a pillar of support to football whose reservoir of legal knowledge has always been used in resolving disputes arising from football. The feasibly shaky and nervous Chairman who fought back tears spoke through the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Association, Hon Habu Patrick Pakwai. He encouraged the family to accept his departure as the will of God and pray God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
It will be recalled that Barr Dan Gwaza was amongst the PFA Normalization Committee set up by NFF to conduct elections into Plateau State Football Association. He was consequently appointed as the Chairman who conducted the elections into Local Governments and State Association offices
