PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT INAUGURATE THE CORE AND CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEES FOR THE DOMESTICATION OF THE WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT POLICY IN PLATEAU STATE.

Plateau State is one of the fortunate few states in Nigeria that have been selected to pilot the domestication of the Women economic empowerment policy in Nigeria.

His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has today through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development inaugurated a carefully selected committee members across the relevant MDAs and key stakeholders.
The composition of the committee includes;

There are also critical Stakeholders representatives from each of the senatorial districts;

Making the remarks at the inauguration, the Honorable Commissioner for women affairs and social development, Hon. Caroline Dafur stressed the significant impact of domestication of this policy on the Plateau, she was quoted saying “We recognize the immense potentials of our women and the critical role the play in shaping our families, communities and the economy, However, We also acknowledge the obstacles and barriers that hinder their full participation in the economic sphere.

She added that “This policy is designed to address these challenges and obstacles for women and young girls to thrive and reach their full potentials.
The main task of this committee is to ensure a successful domestication of this policy, providing opportunities for women in these key focus;

  1. Education and skill acquisition
  2. Trainings in various modern Agricultural techniques
  3. Entrepreneurship
  4. Traditional Labor Market
  5. Emerging Industries.
    The Commissioner also charged the Committee to be diligent and thorough in their research and recommendations noting that the fate of Plateau women and young girls hangs on their shoulders.
