EDO APC GUBER PRIMARIES INCONCLUSIVE, NEW PRIMARIES TO BE CONDUCTED ON THURSDAY – APC NWC

After the weekend’s political brouhaha, show of shame and irregularities that reigned supreme in an attempt to conduct the All Progressives Congress, APC Gubernatorial Primaries in Edo State to pick its candidate for the September 2024 Governorship election produced 3 different gubernatorial candidates, the National Working Committee, NWC of the APC late on Tuesday night declared the primaries inconclusive with a new date fixed for Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 for a fresh primaries

In a three hour parley with journalists after an emergency meeting of the NWC in Abuja, the party through its National Publicity Secretary, Barr Felix Morka, said; “The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024 for the completion of the APC primary election process.”

It will be recalled that your favorite tabloid www.pointblank.com.ng, on Saturday evening reported that Dennis Idahosa emerged winner of the result announced by the Chairman of the Election Committee and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, while Senator Monday Okpepholo emerged winner of the result announced by the returning officer of the election, Stanley Ugbuaja.

Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs had earlier disrupted the collation of the result held at Lushville Hotel and Suite, in GRA, Benin City.

Journalists were later invited to Protea Hotel, Hope Uzodimma announced that Dennis Idahosa won with 40,453 votes

A further twist was however added on Sunday evening when another candidate emerged bringing the number of those laying claim to the APC Gubernatorial Candidate to three

When probed by newsmen after the declaration of the primaries as inconclusive and the announcement of 22nd February, 2024 as the new date to conclude the primaries Mr Morka declined further comments

The three “candidates” had separately stormed the party’s headquarters in Abuja demanding that the NWC issues them a Certificate of Return.

The NWC led by the former governor of Kano State, H.E Dr Abdullahi Ganduje through his Media Aide, in a desperate attempt to give credence to the Primary, congratulated Dennis Idahosa who was announced by Chairman of the party’s Election Committee and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma

This irked the other two “candidates” and critical stakeholders in Edo State who boldly told the party to avoid an imminent defeat in September if fresh primaries were not conducted.
