Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in a tactical attempt to significantly enhance the security infrastructure, not only within the state but as a vigorous component of Nigeria’s national safety on Tuesday, 18 June 2024 participated at the Global Security Exhibition in Paris, France.
The security summit, www.pointblank.com.ng, learns is a gathering of foremost experts and practitioners in the field of security that is centred on innovation, showcasing of latest technologies in cybersecurity, surveillance, banditry, and counter-terrorism. The summit is aimed at forging partnerships that would result in tangible security improvements.
The Chairman, Plateau State Security Committee, Distinguished Sen. Napoleon Binkap Bali, a retired Air Vice Marshall of international repute, who represented Gov Mutfwang at the summit reiterated that security of lives and property is a priority mandate of Gov Mutfwang’s led administration which the governor has worked assiduously to uphold.
He explained that since he assumed office a year ago, Gov Mutfwang has left no stone unturned in reversing the ugly security trend of the state, therefore staying abreast of latest technologies by participating in Security Exhibitions like the one in Paris, France holds the key to pre-emptive, measures and responsive strategies that could be utilized on the Plateau and Nigerian at large.
According to Sen Bali, “cross-border collaborations in security foster knowledge exchange, enable novel insights into advanced security methodologies and offer an opportunity to learn from successful security operations, and to secure potential partnerships that can provide advanced technology and intelligence capabilities. These partnerships would significantly enhance the capacity of Plateau State to pre-empt and respond to security threats”.
The former Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) HQ NAF, said “training and joint exercises are possible outcomes of the international summit which will ensure that Federal Government, state owned security outfit personnel and the communities are equipped with current skills and strategies that are adaptable to evolving threats such as bandits and unknown gunmen attack that have bedevilled the state”.
The former Senator representing Plateau South added that “roundtable discussions with peers from different continents, sharing experiences and dissecting case studies of both triumphs and defeats in the security sector would lead to transfer of knowledge that would ensure that the security workforce on the Plateau is more capable and responsive in the face of terrorism and banditry”.
Bali, however said, community engagement is essential in the successful implementation of security measures and assured that Gov Mutfwang who has exhibited proactive leadership that promises a future of safety and prosperity for the citizens of Plateau State, would continue to engage the communities to make sure that a safe and secured Plateau is possible through everyone’s participation in security because the time is now for Plateau to overcome its security challenges and return to the zenith of socioeconomic growth
