The hope of Imo State Governor State Governor to superintend over the conduct of All Progressives Congress, APC Gubernatorial Primaries in Edo State as the Chairman of the APC Primaries has become hopeless.

This is due to the party’s decision to replace him with Cross Rivers State Governor, H.E Bassey Otu while retaining other committee members including Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC 2023 Gubernatorial Candidate in Plateau State who were earlier appointed alongside Gov Hope Uzodimma

The national working committee of the APC had ordered for the repeat congress following public outcry by other aspirants accusing Mr Hope Uzodimma of taking side as reported by www.pointblank.com.ng. In the primaries purportedly conducted on Saturday, Mr Uzodimma announced that Dennis Idahosa emerged winner while Senator Monday Okpepholo emerged winner of the result announced by the returning officer of the election, Stanley Ugbuaja bringing the number of those laying claim to the party’s sole ticket as the Gubernatorial Candidate to two. As if that wasn’t enough confusion on its own a third candidate was to emerge on Sunday morning

Sensing imminent defeat couples with the drama that followed after, the national working committee led by the former governor of Kano State, H.E Umar Abdullahi Ganduje who had earlier congratulated Hope Uzodimma backed candidate had to reverse itself and announced the cancellation of the election. The NWC ordered a fresh primary for today, Thursday 22nd February, 2024. But still not satisfied with the decision of the party, the candidates insisted that Uzodimma wasn’t longer neutral hence the need to replace him. Yielding to the pressure, the APC through its National Organizing Secretary, H.E Abdullahi Argungu in the wee hours of Wednesday announced the appointment of Cross Rivers State Governor, Bassey Otu as the new Chairman. Bassey Otu is however to work with the unchanged members of the committee.
