…accuse Governor Mutfwang of condemning an evil on one hand and creating a worse evil on the other hand with secret documentation of new staff going on at Ministry of Finance

Dr Clement Selchum Chirman, Rector, Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos

The dust is far from settling down following the termination of employments of Staff of Plateau State Owned Tertiary Institutions by the state governor, His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on the 7th February, 2024.

The governor had in a statement signed by Arc Samuel Nanchang Jatau, FNIA the Secretary of the Government of the State, governor removed the Heads of Some State’s Owned Tertiary Institutions and Cancelled all recruitment conducted between October 2022 till date.

This however, didn’t augur well with the sacked staff. They have had several press conferences which were well captured by www.pointblank.com.ng and to further ensure their grievances are addressed, this time around, they took the fight to Rhythm 93.7 Jos

Secretary of the Joint Sacked Civil Servants, Plateau State, Comrade Henry Hoomen while responding to questions on “POLITICAL UPDATE”, a morning program on Rhythm Fm 93.7 Jos on the 14/2/2024, anchored by the sagacious Amb Bello Lukman and Pam Dung Kwis, the workers accused governor Mutfwang of exploitation and double standard.

He said ahead of accreditation of programs at the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, they were used to deceive the National Board for Technical Education where they posed as staff thereby qualifying the courses for accreditation only to be “used and dumbed” as soon as the accreditation was successful.

In the interview exclusively monitored by www.pointblank.com.ng Comrade Hoomen said “the affected civil servants who worked extra hours to ensure that accreditation was a success had their appointments terminated thereafter. We are so frustrated over the long delay in reviewing recommendations, we also feel used and dumbed”

He accused governor Mutfwang of playing double standard of condemning an evil on one hand and creating a worse evil on the other hand. “it is disheartening that while accusing the past government of not following due process, the current government has engaged in silent employments without proper advertisement or due process”.

He specifically mentioned the Ministry of Finance where silent documentation of new staff has been going on. He said “such an act calls to questioning the integrity of His Excellency”

When quizzed further by the program hosts, Bello Lukman and Pam Dung Kwis, on what exactly transpired at the Plateau State Polytechnic, Comrade Hoomen explained further that “the management of the Plateau State Polytechnic, seeking a waiver for the suspended staff to aid the accreditation, the government suggested that the staff return solely for accreditation, be paid a token, and then be sent back to the street”.

“This response demonstrates a lack of consideration for the affected staff members and raises questions about fairness and proper treatment” continued Hoomen

The aggrieved workers scribe advised the government to ” thoroughly investigate and address the issue. Transparency and accountability must be upheld to ensure justice for the affected individuals. The government should take immediate action to rectify the situation and ensure that proper procedures are followed in the employment process and course accreditation”

  1. It’s very sad that the government resolved in sacking innocent citizens even at this hard economy condition where people are experiencing premium difficulty to feed. My God help us.

  2. Comment: Please as a first class graduate, don’t I deserve an opportunity to impact to the next generation in my State or even country? What was my offense? My only offense is that I was employed by the opposition party. Where is the Governor’s humanity? Where is the love and unity he keeps preaching? it’s so unfortunately that after committing ourselves in serving our dear state, the governor wakes up one day and sack us without even paying arrears. What does the Bible teaches about a worker’s wages? THE GOD OF JUSTICE WILL FIGHT FOR HIS CHILDREN. IT IS WELL
