The immediate past governor of Plateau State and incumbent senator representing Plateau South Senarorial Zone in the national assembly, Sen Simon Bako Lalong has humbly made a passionate appeal to his successor, His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State to ensure political stability in the state by facilitating the inauguration of the 16 House of Assembly Members declared winners by the Court of Appeal
The former Minister of Labour and Employment made the passionate appeal today during the funeral service of the murdered Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state, late Hon Slyvanus Namang who was gruesomely killed by unknown gunmen alongside Sunny Best, owner of a business outfit along Pankshin – Jos road in Pankshin on the 25th February 2024
Barr Lalong who sat next to governor Mutfwang in the church said as “the leader in the state” he urged him to unite the people and allow democratic rule to strive in the State.
Barr Lalong who during his hey days as governor of the state refused to swear in Hon Ubandoma Joshua Laven who was declared winner of the Langtang North chairmanship election seems to have realized the vanity of application of excess power, less than a year after leaving office
Sen Lalong added that “since the appellate court has reaffirmed them as the authentic winners of the election” the governor should please ensure that they are sworn in
The political impasse which has lingered on since November 2023 somehow came to what political analysts described to www.pointblank.com.ng as “the end of the legal marathon concerning the house of assembly members litigation” when the Court of Appeal again dismissed the application for extension of time by the PDP aggrieved members through their counsel Garba Pwul, SAN on Tuesday
The former governor said the inauguration of the members will make the house to be properly constituted
