Shalom Fadip of Zamko Village, Langtang North Local Government in Plateau State has allegedly killed the son of his adopted parents after kidnapping him and demanding a ransom of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000.00k) from the deceased mother, Mrs Lydia Sule Dandam. Despite collecting the ransom, Fadip went ahead and killed his victim by strangulating him at Kuyin village along Langtang Zamko road and buried him in a shallow grave at Zamko
Fadip according to www.pointblank.com.ng findings was adopted by Mr and Mrs Sule Dandam as their son and since then the family has cared and sponsored Shalom Fadip as their son having adopted him. However, their good gesture was repaid with the worse evil on earth as their ‘adopted son’ later kidnapped and killed their biological son, Ramnan Sule Dandam
The defendant who was a student of the College of Theology Gindiri pleaded guilty to the five counts charge read and explained to him this 13th March, 2024 at the High Court Langtang.
According to the statement of the offence, the first count is House Trespass contrary to section 328 (1) and punishable under section 324 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law, 2017. “That you Shalom Fadip of Zamko Village, Langtang North LGA, Plateau State within the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court on or about the 23rd November, 2022 did commit an illegal act to wit: House Trespass when you trespassed into the administrative office of Gindiri Theological Seminary, Gindiri in Mangu LGA, Plateau State with intent to steal HP Laptop and other valubales. You thereby committed an offence of House Trespass contrary to section Section 328 (1) and punishable under Section 334 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law. 2017”
Other charges include: Second Count: House Breaking, Third Count: Kidnapping, Fourth Count: Culpable Homicide Punishable With Death and Fifth Count: Extortion.
The prosecuting counsel JJ Nile applied for the charge to be read to the defendant which was not opposed by the defence counsel, Barr JN Ponsak.
Having pleaded guilty to all the five counts charge, the Judge, Hon Justice SK Sheltu ruled thus: That a plea of guilty is entered for the 1, 2 and 5 counts charge, Plea of not guilty is entered for counts 3 and 4 being kidnapping and culpable homicide because they attract death sentence if proven despite the fact that the defendant pleaded guilty.
The Hon Justice also directed the prosecution to review counts 1, 2 and 5 with a view to see if he needs to call at least one witness despite the plea of guilty by the defendant.
The Honourable Justice took time to ask the defendant if he actually understood the charge read to him and he said Yes without any hesitation
The case is adjourned to the 28th March,2024 for the review by the prosecution and hearing.
