The Tarok Progressives Youth Association (TAPYA) led by Comrade Loknan Samson has commended the inauguration of House of Assembly Members in Plateau State by the Speaker, Rt Hon Gabriel K. Dewan.
The umbrella body of Tarok Youths in a statement on Friday, 5th April, 2034 signed by Comrade Loknan Samson, President of TAPYA said “the inauguration of House of Assembly Members is a significant event that marks the beginning of a new era of governance and leadership”
“The orderly manner in which it was conducted after so many months of struggles and intrigues is a testament of the fact that the State is matured to carry out it’s functions without necessarily involving the security agencies. The Speaker deserves an applause for this and so also, His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang”
“It marks the beginning of a new legislative session and sets the tone for the governance and decision-making processes that will follow”
TAPYA, which represents the interests of the Tarok Youths also called for the Speaker of the House of Assembly to come from the Plateau Southern Zone, in order to ensure equitable representation and inclusivity in the state government.
Comrade Loknan Samson stressed that “in ensuring a fairness and equity that bequeath an endearing legacy of the Mutfwang’s Administration, the Speaker of the House of Assembly should come from Southern Zone. This is a long held tradition of the State that dates back to 1999. The zone that produced the immediate past governor shall produce the incumbent Speaker”
“We are proud of the laudable achievements of Gov Mutfwang so far and we’ll continue to cooperate with the administration that has made the Plateau Man proud”
“However, these lofty achievements will amount to nothing if fairness and equity that Gov Mutfwang is known for is not reflected in the leadership of the House of Assembly”
According to www.pointblank.com.ng, the Youth President cautioned that “Our fear is that if the zoning formula is not respected with the Speakership duly returned to Southern Zone, we may wake up to a situation in the future and have the same zone producing a Governor and Deputy Governor at the same and reference will be made to Governor Mutfwang’s Administration”
TAPYA, as a youth association representing the interests of the Tarok people, has a vested interest in the composition and functioning of the state government. The association believes that it is important for the Speaker of the House of Assembly to come from the Plateau Southern Zone, in order to ensure that all regions of the state are adequately represented in the government. This call for equitable representation is in line with the principles of democracy and good governance, which emphasize the importance of inclusivity and diversity in decision-making processes.
Comrade Loknan Samson assured the governor that amongst the members from Southern Zone, there are absolutely loyal and patriotic members that will partner with the governor to deliver on THE TIME IS NOW mantra.
It is important that Southern Zone’s interests and concerns are adequately represented in the state government.
By calling for the Speaker of the House of Assembly to come from the Plateau Southern Zone, TAPYA is advocating for a more inclusive and representative government that takes into account the needs and aspirations of all the people of Plateau State.
