Hon Carolina Panglang Dafur, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Promises To Be More Dogged In The Fight Against Child Trafficking As She Is Honoured By Legislative Writers Forum, National Assembly Branch

Hon Carolina Panglang Dafur, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Plateau State has promised to be more dogged and relentless in her fight against child trafficking. Hon Dafur stated this on Friday, 22 March 2024 when the Legislative Writers Forum, National Assembly Chapter presented her with an award of honour in recognition of her conscientious commitment and doggedness in combating child trafficking.

According to the Commissioner’s Media Team, the highly elated Commissioner said the award has spurred her to do more and vowed never to rest until Plateau State becomes unfavourable for such sinister activities.

Dafur in receiving the award dedicates it to Plateau Children in IDP Camps, out of school children, those without any social protection and the hardworking staff of the Ministry who she describes as perfect partners in progress whose passion and commitment towards ending child trafficking is exemplary. She said with their commitment, she is not surprised that the ministry’s efforts are being noticed and recognized not just from within the state but also outside the state

In a brief but yet colourful ceremony, www.pointblank.com.ng reliably gathers that the forum through its team leader, Dr Abraham Agwazhi said Hon Dafur is being singled out in the whole country for “Award of Excellent Leadership In Fight Against Child Trafficking and SocialWelfare Protection” because of her unmatchable dedication towards eradicating child trafficking.  

From the onset of her reign as the commissioner, Hon Dafur has channelled her efforts into numerous awareness campaigns and programs aimed at creating public enlightenment against child trafficking.

Her focus at the grassroots is borne out of her belief that “enlightening communities for attitudinal change and value reorientation is fundamental to the eradication of this inhumane practice”

It would be recalled that just on Thursday, 21st March, 2024 Hon Dafur led Women in the State on an advocacy visit to Rt. Hon Gabriel K. Dwewan, Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly.

The significance of the visit that climaxed with the presentation of symbolic award of He4She to the Speaker was to engine the formulation of stringent policies and legislation with severe penalties to deter child trafficker from continuing with their ungodly act

The Legislative Writers Forum noted that “child trafficking is a difficult menace to fight because of the complexities and complicities involved. However, Dafur’s efforts epitomize an indomitable fighting spirit of a mother, who like the chicken is always ready to safeguard her chicks”
