Plateau State ruling party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in its efforts to galvanise the party’s administrative machineries for optimum service delivery to consolidate on power has infused fresh perspectives into the party’s legal affairs by appointing a new Legal Adviser, he is Barr Prince Singa Edward Zhattau
The party made the appointment on Tuesday, 21st May 2024 at the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State held at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State.
According to www.pointblank.com.ng, the position of Legal Adviser of the State Chapter of the party became vacant following the appointment of the former occupant, Barr Jangtur Binchen as Secretary of Plateau State Express Services
A graduate of law from the prestigious University of Jos, Barr Zhattau is saddled with the responsibility of implementing innovative legal strategies that could enhance the party’s compliance with electoral laws and foster fair play. This is particularly pertinent to the party in view of recent judgements against the party which robbed it of all electoral victories except that of the Governor that was saved by the Supreme Court.
While many political commentators have blame the ‘judicial massacre’ on the party’s incoherent understanding which is crucial for enforcing legal norms and guiding the party through the intricacies of political law and interpretation of electoral acts – the responsibilities of a Legal Adviser, others termed it as another glorious display of judicial mishap due to the incomprehensible different interpretation of the same case by the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
The son of former Ponzhi Tarok, Late Chief Edward Zhattau, Barr Prince Singa Zhattau is expected to bring to bear his reputed expertise in law, coupled with his commendable track record, that has earned him not only respect but also the confidence of peers and party members alike. The accuracy with which he interprets laws for the party to successfully navigate through the murky political waters to avoid the unfortunate pitfall that befell the party will benefit not just the PDP but also the entirety of Plateau State, lending it to a period of robust legal reinforcement and judicious political guidance.
As the state’s legal adviser, Barr Zhattau shoulders a critical task of overseeing the party’s adherence to its own constitution and the interpretation of such in the event of internal conflicts.
