Enroute the finals, the Super Eagles, who bookmakers tipped to be eliminated at the group stage have demolished every obstacle on their way. The Coach Jose Vitor Dos Santos Peseiro’s boys are yet to taste defeat, conceded only 2 goals and won all their matches including a group stage win against their Sunday’s opponent, Ivory Coast with only a draw in their opening match of the tournament coming against Equatorial Guinea.

On the other hand, Cote D’Ivoire relied on the new CAF format of best losers to walk their way back into the tournament after being eliminated already at the group stage. They were humiliated by a relatively unknown Equatorial Guinea 4 nil before their fans. That would go on to cost their coach his job.

However, as they found fame and favour before the gods of football, their luck shone brightly as the found form to reach the finals of the 34th edition of the continental biannual competition
