The President of Tarok Progressive Youths Association (TAPYA), Comrade Loknan Samson has expressed serious concerns over the turbulent climate of comparative inflated prices of commodities, like Petrol, Diesel and Automobile Spare Parts in Tarokland compared to neighbouring settlement like Yelwa, Wase, Shendam and Dengi.  The discrepancies in prices, according to the Youth President had become more of a bane than ever, with the cost of living soaring like an unchecked kite against the wind

Speaking to www.pointblank.com.ng, on Thursday, 06 June, 2024, Comrade Samson said “The Tarok people have sadly for long found themselves struggling with an unseen adversary that silently wear away the value of our labour and undermines the sanctity of our livelihood: the phantom of inflation”.

Comrade Samson continued, with his voice carrying the weight of responsibility “the discrepancies in prices compared to our neighbouring communities are disheartening. If you are considering distance of transporting goods and products to Langtang, Wase and Yelwa are farther than Langtang yet the prices over there are cheaper compared to ours”

“For no any justifiable economic principles or logistics, we are forced to weather the brunt of this unjust price surge and this has forced many of our youths to travel far away to the neigbouring Local Governments for the same products that are available in Langtang and Mabudi but are overcharged thereby increasing the risk of accident and security, and this is strangulating economic activities in Tarokland”

“We can no longer idly stand by as the situation threatens to stifle our economic freedoms and prospects. We are therefore appealing to our cherished business men and women to be considerate and empathetic in fixing their prices. Prices should reflect the realities obtainable in other areas”.

The President lamented that the same petrol filling station owner in Shendam sells a litre for #800 but his station in Langtang goes for #900. He also bemoaned a situation where commercial drivers from Jos to Langtang charge higher compared to their brothers who plight Jos to Shendam route, an equal or even farther milage compared to others.

He appealed to all business owners to operate with the fear of God while inculcating the uncompromising attributes of sincerity, fairness and justice a Tarok man is known for

www.pointblank.com reports that the shadow of hyperinflation have long loomed over Tarok economy, gradually rendering prices highly unpredictable unpredictable, leaving the people at the mercy of business owners who unilaterally fix prices of good dependent upon which side of the bed they woke up from. This has made the economy fragile like the wings of a moth in the tempest of change
