The Immediate Past Governor of Sokoto State and incumbent Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwa, Matawalle Sokoto, has appeared before the Sokoto State Judicial Commission of Inquiry instituted by his former deputy and incumbent Governor of Sokoto State, H.E Alh Dr Ahmad Aliyu, FCNA to probe the administration of Sen Tambuwal.

Gov. Aliyu was Tambuwal’s Deputy between 2015 to 2018. He resigned on party ideologies. While Sen Tambuwal defected to the opposition party, PDP in 2018 after consulting with his erstwhile friend, now political foe, H.E Nyesom Wike, Gov. Aliyu remained in APC led by his political godfather and Tambuwal’s precedessor, Sen. Aliyu Magartakada Wammako. Gov Aliyu was to contest against Tambuwal in 2019 and lost narrowly with 38 votes

Underlining the supremacy of the law above anybody, no matter how highly placed he is, Tambuwal in a facebook message said “Earlier today, I appeared before the Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga led Sokoto State Judicial Commission of Inquiry Instituted by my successor, H.E, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.

“I was accompanied by my legal team and some officials of my administration including the ex-SSG, Muhammad Mainasara Ahmad, Mni, ex-Chief of Staff, Muktar Magori, ex-Attorney General, and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Dr. Sulaiman Usman, SAN, among others. Our track record of integrity in public service speaks for us, always.

“In leading the younger generation, we must instill in them utmost respect for the rule of law and constituted authorities.

“As citizens, we should realize that no one, no matter how highly placed, should be above the laws of the land, most specifically, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This, amongst other things, brings out the beauty in democracy.

“I wish the commission the very best in its sitting”.
