The Plateau State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Prof. (Assoc) Goselle Obed Nanjul today May 14, 2024 inaugurated the generative artificial intelligence APP tagged JUMM.AI. The APP which was developed by Zeustek ICT Solutions and their partners in Jos, was the only APP in the whole of Africa that won a grant of $250,000 from Microsoft and data.org. The official flagged off and colourful event was held at Zeustek’s headquarters in Hwolshe, opposite Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos campus.

The event was also graced by the presence of the President of GIEVA, Dr. Daniel Newton Obaka and the Plateau State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Caroline Panglang Dafur.

JUMM.AI is a generative artificial intelligence application developed in Hausa language and aimed at addressing the needs of women in Northern Nigeria. The content of the APP is also fashioned to train and empower women with requisite digital skills, making them globally competitive like their pairs in other climes.

Prof. (Assoc.) Goselle Obed Nanjul commended Zeustek ICT’s management on their commitment to educating particularly the women folks, emphasizing that their vision aligns with the seven points agenda of His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, which is chiefly predicated on leveraging on technological tools to improve the standard of every facets of the various ministries.

Importantly this is to ease the administration’s quest to utilizing E-Governance, E-Learning, E-Commerce, and Digital Economy as a way of reducing cost of governance, reduce loss of man hours, enhance efficiency and reduce corruption among citizenry. He expressed the government’s continuous commitment to providing an enabling environment for technology and innovation to thrive in the state.

He further charged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the training to improve their livelihood, refuse the temptations of hoarding their knowledge by training others and ensure they work hard to contribute to the increase of Plateau State internally generated revenue (IGR) and GDP

On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs outlined the government’s plan to train 5000 women in Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology and hope to at the appropriate time liase with the Plateau State ministry of Science Technology and Innovation and Zeustek IT solutions to execute their agenda.
